What is Crime Solvers?

Crime Solvers of Harrisonburg and Rockingham County is a community-based three-pronged program involving citizens, news media, and law enforcement working together to fight crime. The Crime Solvers Board is comprised of a group of citizens who pay cash rewards for information leading to the arrest of anyone who commits crimes in Harrisonburg or Rockingham County or the capture of a wanted person. Crime Solvers is not operated by the Harrisonburg Police Department or Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office.

 

How does Crime Solvers Work?

Anyone with knowledge of a crime can call the tip line at 540.574.5050. Callers to the Crime Solvers Tip Line do not have to give their names or phone numbers, and they never have to make a court appearance. After taking a brief summary of the information provided, the caller will then be given a “caller number” by the call taker. That number is the only form of identification needed for any further communication with Crime Solvers. If the information provided results in an arrest, apprehension of a fugitive, the recovery of stolen property, or illegal narcotics a cash reward ranging from $50 to $1,000 is paid to the caller.

 

Where does the money come from?

Crime Solvers is a non-profit organization which relies solely on donations from local businesses, private citizens, and fundraising events. No tax dollars are used for rewards. Crime Solvers depends on you!

 

What can you do?

Call Crime Solvers at 540.574.5050 if you have information on:

  • A crime that has occurred in the City of Harrisonburg or Rockingham County.
  • The whereabouts of a wanted person.
  • Stolen property or illegal narcotics.
  • Make a tax deductible donation to Crime Solvers.
